While many stay subscribed to services like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus for the new free and recent games which get added each month, there are some who have fun tucking into games one generation or older.
If you look beyond the great games we have got in the last five years, you’ll find another load of excellent titles that were released during the last console generation which are worth revisiting.
Xbox Game Pass users are now being urged to check out an RPG gem from 2019, with it especially being perfect for those who love Fallout: New Vegas.
Over on Reddit, one user has decided to check out The Outer Worlds again, this time on Xbox Series X because the game didn’t run well on their PC originally.

The Outer Worlds is set in the far future in a distant galaxy, where planets have been colonised by megacorporations and society has become hyper-corporate.
It’s similar in style to Fallout: New Vegas, which is just as well considering it’s made by Obsidian Entertainment, the same studio behind the popular Fallout game, which also made games like Pentiment and Avowed.
The similarities come in the different quests you can do, where making certain choices leads to dramatic outcomes which affect the world around you.
There are multiple companions who can accompany you as well, with their own stories and questlines where you can help them through any difficulties they’re facing.

“So what do you all think about this game? I’m going in blind on this one,” reads the post from user b0nsjans.
“Couldn’t get into the first one because of performance issues on my pc, but now having a series x and performance mode this looks very promising. I like the start with the attributes and skillsets already. I started with Intelligence and Charm on high and extra points on Ranged and Dialog. Have fun!”
It’s worth noting they’re playing the Spacer’s Choice Edition, which is available on Xbox Game Pass, and includes both DLC expansions: Peril on Gorgon and Murder on Eridanos.
This edition also includes a few additional features, such as raising the level cap and improving the graphics.
“Be sure to do the dlc after the main game. It's the Spacer's Choice way,” reads another post.
“A hell of a gem. One of my favorite games and one of the few I've played through multiple times. Have fun,” another reads.
Despite the positive sentiment from some players, others were less keen on it.
“It’s a thoroughly mid game,” reads a comment from another player. “The loot and exploration is really unsatisfying. After you finish the first planet you’ve seen the best the game has to offer.”
The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition came to Xbox Game Pass today, but the original base game was made available on the service on launch day.
Time will tell if Xbox Game Studios decides to do this with more games, where releasing a complete edition of a game to Game Pass users will sway more people onto the service.
