It may still be a few years until we get to see Microsoft’s next-gen console, but a recent report reveals that we will need to use that time to save up quite a bit of money.
Following the recent launch of both the Asus ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, Microsoft is turning its attention to its next-gen console and it seems as though the company has big plans indeed.
Now according to Xbox president Sarah Bond, the console will be a “very premium, very high-end curated experience”, acting more as a PC-console hybrid.
This news comes after millions of Xbox users recently cancelled their Game Pass subscriptions after Microsoft raised the prices by a substantial amount.

With many believing that Microsoft’s troubles would directly impact the next-gen console, it seems as though this will not be the case and its plans are bigger than ever.
In an interview with Mashable, Bond spoke more about the next-gen console, sharing the news that it could be very similar to Xbox’s latest handheld.
"The next-gen console is going to be a very premium, very high-end curated experience," Bond said.
"You're starting to see some of the thinking we have in this handheld [ROG Xbox Ally], but I don't want to give it all away."

Much more powerful
This makes sense paired with recent comments from industry insider Moore’s Law is Dead who claimed that the next-gen Xbox console will include the AMD Magnus APU which combines both a CPU and GPU to make it the most powerful piece of hardware yet.
However, with great power comes great costs as, if this report is true, the next Xbox console could cost around $800 to $1200 due to its much larger processor.

It is this large price tag that has got users talking as many took to social media to share their thoughts.
“Games don’t even fully utilise the functionality of the current gen and we’re already expected to update our consoles??” one user asked.
Another agreed, adding, “Then what’s the point? You’re better off taking your $1200 and building a PC instead. The whole point of consoles is affordable gaming but if money ain’t an issue you just get a PC.”
With the majority of fans believing that this money would be better suited to a PC whilst others are going as far as claiming that “Xbox is dead”, it seems as though the future is not looking bright for Microsoft.

However, with the company not having confirmed these prices, it is worth taking with a pinch of salt.
