Xbox has shared a teaser for the next-gen console, and it sounds like production is really ramping up.
Although it feels like the current generation of consoles have some life left in them yet, the release window for the next Xbox and PlayStation consoles have been etching closer and closer.
Industry analysts and experts reckon we’ll see the next generation of hardware around 2027, and with Xbox in particular having a lot of rumours surrounding if it’ll even do a console next-generation, it seems like Microsoft is ready to squash those rumours once and for all.
Xbox’s Sarah Bond appeared on Good Morning America recently, taking the show on a tour around the hardware labs at Microsoft where Xbox consoles are designed and tested.

“This is where the team is actually designing, prototyping and testing for the next generation of Xbox," Bond says in the clip, which can be viewed below. "It is top secret [...] we very rarely take people in here.”

Not much more was shown in addition to that, as the segment on Good Morning America was more focused on the ROG Xbox Ally, Microsoft’s new Xbox and Windows-powered handheld platform which was released today.
Still, Xbox fans who were left feeling a little uncomfortable following the notion that Microsoft may be abandoning its plans for the next-generation console can probably rest a little easier.
For now though, all it’s really seemed to confirm is that Microsoft is working on a new Xbox platform. The more intricate details have still not been confirmed, and we don’t even have a rough release window.
With 2027 being handed around as the potential year for the next generation of consoles, you’re probably better off waiting until then. At the moment, Microsoft is more interested in promoting the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X.

We recently reviewed the ROG Xbox Ally X, where our Kate said it “boasts the power of a PC, yet is nowhere near as bulky, which comes with the added benefit of allowing me to take it on the go. Add in the fact that you can also enjoy your Xbox library and, well, the Xbox ROG Ally X is just an incredibly handy piece of kit.”
It joins other gaming handhelds such as the Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam Deck, which each fit within their own little niche.
Both versions of the hardware are out today, with the ROG Xbox Ally costing $599.99, and the ROG Xbox Ally X costing $999.99.
