It looks like Xbox’s new handheld console will be able to play PlayStation games, if you’re so inclined.
Although the concept of platform exclusives can feel a little antiquated these days, there are still some games locked to certain platforms.
We’ve had Xbox bring over most of its newer titles to PS5, while Sony has continued to support its PC gaming expansion with a host of fresh games.

After unveiling the new Xbox handheld—called the ROG Xbox Ally, it’s now been confirmed that the game isn’t restricted to Xbox titles.
You can actually play your Steam and Epic Games Store games too.
According to YouTuber Destin Legarie, who was able to get a hands-on with the ROG Xbox Ally, he was able to access his Steam library and even install Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Theoretically, this should mean PlayStation games that are on Steam such as The Last of Us: Part 1 and Horizon Zero Dawn should also be able to run on this thing.

It’s unknown, however, if this will be the case when the handheld actually launches. In the past, Sony has blocked Xbox users from playing its library on their own consoles.
For example, God of War was added to GeForce Now, a cloud streaming subscription service that supports nearly every device with a web browser, including Xbox consoles.
But God of War eventually got blocked from GeForce Now on Xbox, effectively blocking the game from being played on any of Microsoft’s consoles.
Time will tell whether Sony has shifted its policy on this, or if the company will eventually block ROG Xbox Ally users from playing PlayStation games.

There’s no release date confirmed for the handheld platform yet, though Xbox has confirmed it’ll be “this holiday”, with pricing and pre-order details coming in a few months.
