Xbox Game Pass got $9000 worth of free games in 2023

Xbox Game Pass got $9000 worth of free games in 2023

Take our money, Xbox Game Pass

In my opinion, the Xbox Game Pass subscription service is one of the best bargains in gaming and it can save you an absolute fortune when compared to buying at least one AAA title every month.

Whether you subscribe to the basic Xbox Game Pass tier or the Ultimate version, subscribers have hundreds of games to choose from. It not only offers Xbox first-party titles on the day of launch, but you might even have the chance to find hidden indie gems that you might not otherwise play or relive classic titles from yesteryear thanks to the Xbox’s fantastic backwards compatibility. The Ultimate tier also comes bundled with EA Play, cloud streaming and more.

One of the other benefits that any of the Xbox Game Pass tiers brings is that it could save you from wasting money on an over-hyped game. For example, even if you pay for the £8.99 basic or £12.99 Ultimate tier, that’s much better than spending £40 to £70 on a game that you wish you hadn't. What’s more, you also get additional benefits such as exclusive discounts and DLC.

So, in terms of financial cost, just how much can the Xbox Game Pass subscription service save us? Now, this is an extreme case, unless you genuinely play every game that the service has to offer, but according to trueachievements.com, Xbox Game Pass added $8,763 USD/£7695 worth of games in 2023. Yikes!

It’s fair to say that aside from the great value that Xbox Game Pass offers, it’s not been a great year in terms of major exclusives for the green brand. That being said, with the likes of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Avowed and more coming to the service in 2024, it looks to be an even better year for subscribers.
