Xbox users urged to claim free store credit while they still can

Xbox has a free store credit system, but you'll want to be quick

Xbox users are being urged to go ahead and make the most of Microsoft's free store credit system while they still can.

Whether you game on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox, there's almost always a feature that allows you to earn points and trade them in for free store credit. PlayStation has a pretty decent one, and it's easy enough for Steam users to get their hands on store credit. But you might not have been aware Xbox gamers have a similar system.

If you're into Elden Ring you might want to check out this new release!

By signing up to Microsoft rewards, players can get access to Rewards With Xbox. Via this system, you can earn points by buying and playing certain games and finishing certain "quests". Do enough of these and you can trade in your points for things like Xbox Game Pass membership, entries to raffles to win new consoles and controllers, and free store credit.

It's not a bad system on paper, though gamers are complaining that it's getting much worse. In other words, they fear the end may be in sight, so you should get involved with Rewards With Xbox while you still can.

Over on the Xbox Series X subreddit fans have noticed that the Microsoft Rewards service has been in rapid decline, and is getting much harder to use. Some have speculated that Microsoft is purposefully winding down the service, though we should stress there's absolutely zero hard evidence of such a plan.

"The plan is to nerf it until it's totally useless and everyone gives up, then they will say 'well we're discontinuing the program due to low numbers'", one user posits.

"I used to buy the games that were pushed by the punch cards because it was as effective as getting money back," another adds. "You used to get 2000-4000 points for completing them. You also used to get something ridiculous like 50% back in Rewards points when you bought things during a big sale.

"I have basically disengaged from the Rewards program when those were nerfed into the ground. Funnily enough, my impulse purchases have also gone down since they nerfed these programs."

Microsoft Rewards might not be what it used to, then, but for as long as it's still around you have a chance to claim some free store credit... so don't miss out.
