Xbox gamers warned they're running out of time to claim free store credit

You're running out of time

Some changes are coming to the Microsoft Rewards app, and Xbox users aren’t too happy about it.

As an Xbox fan myself I’ve seen first-hand the decline of the Xbox Rewards program, which used to offer loads of ways to earn points you could exchange for in-store credit.

Did you hear the TimeSplitters series is back on PlayStation?

Unfortunately several changes have limited the way players can earn points, and decreased the value of certain actions so it takes longer to amass a sizable stockpile.

Now another change to the service has been shared on Reddit, and it’s looking like it’ll limit the amount of points user's can earn even more.

The update reads: “In the Microsoft Rewards section, we added verbiage to clarify how to claim Points on the Rewards Dashboard and that Points will be awarded for only those searches used for genuine good-faith personal research purposes."

Now what this exactly means is unknown at the time of writing has nothing has gone into effect just yet, though users are taking it as a sign that Microsoft will “crack down on people doing nonsense searches or the same set of words, day after day.”

If you didn’t know you could earn quite a few points by regularly using the Bing search engine, either through completing quests or just generally using it as your main browser.

Users weren't as happy as you might expect, and who can blame them since Microsoft Rewards is becoming less and less valuable as time goes on.

One user said they “typically use the news searches or suggested searches they provide me, so if that doesn’t count then that’s on them IMO.”

Another added “that's great Microsoft is planning another neft to the points can Microsoft just leave the program alone.”

Microsoft Rewards truly is a shell of its former self, though unfortunately it’s doubtful things will improve anytime soon.
