Xbox Gamers Awarded Free Store Credit, How To Check Eligibility

Don't mind if I do

After a busy Christmas period, getting your hands on some free store credit has never been more lucrative. Luckily, it seems as though some Xbox users may just be in for a nice surprise.

Turns out, being a dedicated Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S player pays off over time. Purchasing and playing select titles lets you gradually accumulate points which can be exchanged for free store credit. However, this is a major time commitment - sometimes you just want that free store credit then and there.

Well, if you made some purchases on the Xbox Store back in December, you may just be eligible for a gift card or two.

This comes courtesy of Pure Xbox which has revealed that some Xbox users have recently been granted gift cards or in-game credit for select games.

So, Who is Eligible?

This giveaway comes courtesy of an event which took place back in December 2025.

The Xbox Countdown Sale which occurred last month allowed players who purchased titles under the EA Sports or 2K Sports umbrella to be eligible for a $5 gift card if they made the transaction during the promotional period.

On top of in-game credit in some instances, the gift cards are now being rolled out and, as you can expect, this came as a welcome surprise to many users who forgot about the Xbox event.

Better yet, the free store credit can be used to purchase anything in the Xbox Store and is not limited to EA Sports or 2K Sports titles. Some fans have even reported getting one simply for being an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member.

Of course, $5 is not going to bag you the latest AAA title but there are plenty of indie titles on sale at all times or you could just use it to get a small discount off a big purchase.

How To Find Out If You Have Free Store Credit

To see if you were one of the lucky few to receive the free store credit, simply head to the Microsoft Store App and access your profile.

Once here, check out the ‘Offers and Credits’ tab as this is where your gift card will be hiding if you have been gifted one by Xbox.

All that is left is to spend it! But be warned - it comes with an expiration date in the Terms and Conditions, so make sure not to keep it for a rainy day in the far future. Treat yo self!
