Xbox users have a delightful gift to unwrap, a 35+ hour RPG for all of the completionists looking for something new to play.
Over the past couple of months Xbox has become increasingly generous in its offering, no doubt powered by its newfound love for its gamers.
The company has made a lot of changes and there are plenty more to come, from improvements to the way achievements look on the platform to early celebrations for its 25th anniversary.
Now a remaster of a full-priced game has been made free on the Xbox Store and the best part is you don’t even need Xbox Game Pass to claim it.
It’s not the only giveaway Xbox has generously bestowed upon its users as free store credit vouchers have been handed out as part of the Spring sales, and you can learn how to claim yours below.

You won’t want to miss your free game either though, especially if you love a good RPG.
Wasteland Remastered, by inXile Entertainment and Krome Studios, is now available to claim for free on the Xbox Store for reasons unknown.

The game is just free all of a sudden with no real explanation. It’s already available as part of your Xbox Game Pass membership but once you claim it outright there’s nothing Xbox can do to take it away from you if you decide to unsubscribe.
Usually the game costs around $14/£10 so it’s a solid deal if you’re looking for something new to play over the weekend.
“The RPG classic rises from the nuclear ashes” begins the game’s description.
“Wasteland Remastered is an overhaul of the 1988 title that brought the post-apocalypse to video games. See where the Wasteland series began and experience the character and world the sequels are built on.”
HowLongToBeat reckons it’ll take you around 15-16 hours to beat the main story but if you do some exploration a playthrough can go up to 35 hours or more.
Looking at the game on Steam the reviews are mixed so it’s clearly not everyone’s cup of tea. Perhaps that’s why it’s a freebie?
Free is free at the end of the day though, so even if you don’t think you’ll ever play it, it’s worth acquiring anyway right?
