Xbox fans united over our next home console

Microsoft is cooking up something good, despite its recent strategy shift

I’m sure you’re now familiar with the ‘This Is An Xbox’ campaign recently launched by Microsoft.

Xbox has steadily been drifting away from its prior focus on first-party exclusives and as such, anything can be an Xbox these days, or so we’re told.

TVs, mobile phones, VR headsets, Amazon Alexa devices, and laptops are all now, sort of, iterations of an Xbox thanks to Microsoft’s major push of Game Pass’ cloud gaming capabilities.

In a way, even a PlayStation 5 can feel like an Xbox given all of the recent ports of games that were previously Xbox exclusives.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the next port in line, with many other major titles rumoured to follow including classic Gears of War and Halo entries.

Personally, I find this new outlook quite refreshing. What Microsoft is doing is the complete opposite of the so-called console wars of yesteryear.

It’s opening up access to as many gamers as possible, although that’s a prospect that’s left some longtime Xbox users feeling concerned.

They needn’t though, as the company is still committed to releasing a world-class next-gen console.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a truly fantastic game.

You may recall that Xbox’s Sarah Bond previously teased the company’s next-gen console to feature "the largest technical leap you've ever seen in a hardware generation”.

It’s this that Xbox fans are latching onto during this period of change.

“Is anyone worried about the future of Xbox? I love the Xbox platform. Controller, UI, FPS Boost, etc. But seeing the direction Phil Spencer is taking it, has me fearing if there’s going to even be another Xbox,” wrote Reddit user streetbijxdhhdhd.

“No, just keep playing games. More consoles are coming,” reassured Ornery-Tonight1694.

“Nah, Xbox is going to get even bigger in the coming years. Consoles may not be as big as before but with PC, Cloud and Console all playing together, all our games will be available anywhere we want and we'll have more active games. Xbox gives me the best console experience so I'm happy where I am,” added CoSMiiCBLaST.

As I said before, it’s worth keeping Bond’s tease in mind too. We’re likely in for an exciting couple of years.
