Microsoft is busy beavering away on developing its next-gen Xbox console, contrary to rumours that suggest otherwise.
You may have read online in recent days that Xbox is giving up on first-party hardware, after certain “leakers” spread the news that a next-gen Xbox had been cancelled.
That is not at all the case.
In a statement to WindowsCentral, Microsoft said, “We are actively investing in our future first-party consoles and devices designed, engineered and built by Xbox. For more details, the community can revisit our agreement announcement with AMD.”

I’d also like to draw your attention to something Xbox president Sarah Bond said during a 2024 episode of the Official Xbox Podcast: “What we're really focused on there is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation, which makes it better for players and better for creators and the visions that they're building."
Now that I’ve hopefully cast any concern from your mind, allow me to fill you in on the latest leak which teases the specs of Xbox’s upcoming console, codenamed ‘Magnus’.
Moore’s Law is Dead originated that codename, having previously claimed that ‘Magnus’ is the name of the AMD APU that will be used within the console
As reported by PureXbox, the latest specs leak comes courtesy of Twitter/X user Zuby_Tech.

Zuby_Tech detailed that the console will feature the “biggest die size ever in a console, 408 mm²”.
The ‘Magnus’ will reportedly have a die 46% larger than the ‘Orion’ PlayStation 6, but it’ll also supposedly be more expensive, potentially exceeding $800.
The die design is apparently more similar to a PC chip than something typically made for consoles.
Zuby_Tech then went on to list a ton of quickfire specs before teasing a 2027 launch window.

I’ll let you read the full post below as, admittedly, some of the tech jargon here is going to go beyond many of our heads.
Still, there’s enough here that all of us can gather just how ambitious plans for the next-gen Xbox are - especially if it boasts the power of a PC.

Of course, I have to urge you to take all of this information with a pinch of salt but given just how large of a leap Bond previously teased, this intel does match up.
It does, however, sound like you’ll need to start saving very soon if you want to get your hands on a next-gen Xbox as it could be the priciest console yet.
