LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight free DLC - what is it and how to claim

The Dark Knight is back on his defensive duties as Gotham is plunged into madness again. But thanks to a new freebie DLC, he can look the part while locking up Gotham's worst.

Batman games are some of the best in the business. The Arkham trilogy, especially, is some of the greatest games of all time, and has had fans screaming for a remaster ever since.

But for fans of Wayne's husky demeanor and Gotham's lawless streets, it's the LEGO universe that is leading the way for Batman, block by block.

That's not to say LEGO: Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight does a bad job being the go-to game - in fact, it's incredible.

Now, the caped crusader is back with a new deluxe edition and expansion pack, and a free DLC will have your batcave fully decked out in gaming equipment that even Lucius Fox would be jealous of.

LEGO Batman Deluxe Edition gets Mayhem Collection expansion DLC

Set to celebrate the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 port - but available on all platforms - a new expansion pack to LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has been announced.

Titled 'Mayhem Collection,' the expansion will be centred around power couple Harley Quinn and the Joker, who will star as protagonists for a new story mission.

The estranged duo will "orchestrate a breakout from Arkham Asylum with a going-away party Gotham City won't soon forget," in the story mission.

A new mode will also be added, called Mayhem, which will see players get chased by Batman and Robin in time-limited looting runs.

The new expansion will be free for all Deluxe Edition owners, and will also include a Sinister Pack of customisation features, such as Joker outfits portraying Nightwing, Batgirl, Jim Gordon, and Talia al Ghul.

While the Deluxe Edition upgrade comes at around $30 / £22 for base game owners, players shouldn't feel too let down if they haven't bought into the expansions, as there will be new bonuses for you too.

All players will have access to a new difficulty, as 'Absolute' gives you the hardest Gotham run yet.

As part of the new celebrations for the Mayhem Collection, Warner Bros. has also released Twitch Drops, which will be available from September 1-27.

Featuring a string of gaming-inspired custom features that can decorate your Batcave.
