Xbox fans furious as 'huge wave' of games pulled without warning

Weird part is, nobody knows why

Dozens of Xbox titles, possibly up to a hundred, just disappeared from the Xbox Storefront… and Microsoft has yet to give an official explanation as to why.

As spotted by True Achievement’s Tom West, several titles just vanished from the Xbox Storefront for seemingly no reason.

There are some absolute bangers in this list too, such as Hyper Light Drifter and Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Although West’s list details 27 titles that have been removed, it seems like the list isn’t exhaustive.

One user over on the r/xbox subreddit found at least 15 other examples of delisted games, and it seems that others in the thread have noticed a few specific titles have disappeared too… and the commenters aren’t best pleased about Microsoft’s lack of transparency.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a banger.

“This situation is just completely f**ked if we’re being honest here. Most of these publishers likely don’t care to provide the information Microsoft requires, so they will remain delisted,” commented user Fit-Explanation168.

“While the EU law had good intentions, the way it’s being interpreted here is just messed up. How is this a problem only Microsoft has and Sony and Valve are unaffected? Like come on now.”

“Funny how just today I was watching a video about the trouble with digital media with one of the issues being explained was games being delisted,” replied user BloodyRedBarbara.

So, what is going on here? This seems to be affecting specific publishers, and it only seems to be affecting European Xbox storefronts too, so surely there is a specific answer, right?

As a few other comments in the thread have theorised, it sounds like it could be something to do with the new “Know Your Business” requirement in the EU (if a post on Microsoft’s website is anything to go by).

Hopefully that means it’s a temporary issue, although if the publishers of these games don’t opt to conform with the new Know Your Business requirement… there is a chance these titles are gone for good.
