Xbox is apparently considering yet another shake-up to its subscription service, but don’t worry this one shouldn’t impact the price, hopefully.

Over the past couple of years, Xbox Game Pass has seen a lot of ups and downs. It’s been slated for abysmal price hikes but praised for day-one first-party exclusives, making it a very personal subscription service as everyone seems to have their own happy tales and horror stories about it.

Now, Xbox is reportedly thinking of yet another change, but this one actually makes a bit of sense.

It’s said by The Verge that the PC tier could be getting axed, with its contents and perks being jammed into the Premium tier membership instead.

PC Game Pass Could Be Ended For Good

I’d expect this to be pretty self-explanatory but for those who don’t own a PC, the PC Game Pass tier is basically a separate membership for those who don’t own a console. If you own both platforms, your normal Xbox Game Pass subscription should cover it.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate-

This change seems to be Xbox’s way of getting all of its users on the same page, which makes a lot of sense considering the latest rumours state the next-gen Xbox will be a console and PC hybrid. Having one service for all customers seems like a smart move.

You’d expect there to be some catch here regarding the price as well, but you might be surprised to hear this change will actually save you money if you primarily play on PC.

In the UK, a subscription to PC Game Pass will set you back £13.49 a month whereas Xbox Game Pass Premium costs £10.99 a month. The Premium tier gives you online access and a huge library of games to play at no additional cost, but lacks day-one access to new releases.

For that, you’ll need a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which costs £22.99 a month if you’re a new subscriber. I’m still paying the previous price of £14.99 a month from before the price hike, because unless you cancel and resubscribe, Xbox has to honour what you were paying before the change.

Ultimately, this change to Xbox’s subscription service isn’t a bad one, at least in my opinion. It keeps the tiers consistent and makes them less confusing, I just hope there are no more price hikes on the way.
