It looks like Xbox Game Pass could be getting yet another price hike and a perk that no one asked for.
It feels like every few months or so, we’re slapped with a wet kipper across the face with continuous price hikes, whether it’s current-gen consoles that are years old or streaming services such as Netflix.
Likewise, in 2025, we also saw big price hikes with gaming subscription services such as PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass.
For example, Xbox Game Pass saw a huge price hike of around 50% in some regions.

Sadly, it looks like even more hikes are on the way.
Not Another Xbox Game Pass Price Hike!
Yes, unfortunately, it looks like Xbox Game Pass could be getting another price hike. No doubt, it will be supported with the typical corporate lingo of falling in line with the current economic demands.
As reported by Comicbook.com (via The Verge), not only does it look like an Xbox Game Pass price increase is imminent, but it’s also getting an additional perk that no one asked for (and I’m pretty sure that no one, if only a few, were calling for this).
The Verge reports that Microsoft is considering expanding Xbox Game Pass this year and may look to bundle in new services, similar to what it already does with EA Play and Ubisoft+ Classics.
At this time, we don’t know how much Xbox Game Pass will increase by or how each of its tiers will be impacted.

What Is the New Rumoured Perk Coming to Xbox Game Pass?
Xbox Game Pass is reportedly coming to cable TV. I assume this might be similar to how the subscription service is streamed with compatible Smart TVs.
I don't know about you, but I don’t think I’ve ever thought to myself, “I wish I could play Xbox games via my Virgin Media/Sky TV box”.
If this happens, I’d be surprised if there are a ton of Xbox Game Pass subscribers who would stream games via a cable TV box, but I would assume that many subscribers won't be best pleased having to pay more for the service to have that luxury.
I would have thought that being able to stream via a cable TV box would be exclusive to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier, and if that tier has another big jump in cost, it wouldn't be surprising if subscribers wash their hands of Microsoft’s costly service.
That being said, these reports are unconfirmed, so they should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.
However, if this price hike and additional “perk” do happen, I wouldn't be all that shocked.
We’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
