Starfield haters are already planning to review bomb the game, for some reason

Some people are already threatening to review bomb Starfield.

The release of Starfield is almost upon us - and it’s undoubtedly the most hyped game of the year. If Bethesda manages to pull off all that they’ve promised, Starfield is a surefire GOTY contender. I personally cannot wait to dive in.

As I’m sure you’ve heard, Starfield will boast over 1,000 explorable planets where you’ll find an “astonishing” number of side quests. Just yesterday, it was teased that there’ll be a criminal system, a housing market, plus you’ll be able to recruit four companions from a choice of up to 20. Bethesda seemingly really has created a universe that we can all get truly lost in. It was also confirmed yesterday that the game has officially gone gold. Those of you with an Xbox can pre-download the game now. In recent days though, fans have expressed concern that negative hate will be thrown at Starfield, simply for the point of dragging it down. That now appears to be the case as some haters are threatening to review bomb the game for no apparent reason.

Take a look at Starfield in action below.

On social media, a number of users are threatening to review bomb Starfield. User NikoMueller was able to capture a screenshot of XbotTears360 who’d tweeted, “Starting account one out of 1,000. Goodbye Starfield score,” alongside an image of Metacritic’s site. NikoMueller had captioned the screenshot, “Dear Metacritic, some people are publicly planning to misuse your platform to defame a future game and seemingly are proud of it. This is just one of many examples.”

Another example read, “Look, don’t worry. I’ve spoken to a ton of PS gamers. I know one who has 600 Metacritic accounts ready to zero the game.” Anyone else hate this return of the so-called ‘console wars’ mentality? It’s so needless. For the vast majority of us, I think it’s fair to say that the console wars are a thing of the past. Xbox is great. PlayStation is great. Nintendo Switch is great. PC is great. It’s a shame that a minority are trying to overwrite that narrative with review bombing.

It’s a concern many users of the Starfield subreddit have shared. Agitated_Carrot3025 wrote, “I simply don't get it. There's a ton of PS5 and Switch games that don't seem to run on my X or PC. I don't go review bombing them.” One user replied, “It happens with everything. You also see people handing out 10s left and right. User reviews are a joke and sadly shouldn't be taken seriously,” while TiredReader87 added, “This is why, as I always say, Metacritic’s user reviews are stupid and meaningless. Kids and idiots just review bomb popular games for ‘fun.’” The most important thing is that Starfield will soon be in our hands to enjoy.
