Gamers have some seriously high expectations for Starfield, and you really can’t blame them. Since its announcement, it was clear that Bethesda’s space-exploration RPG had an incredibly promising concept at its core, but the more we’ve actually seen of it in action, more likely it seems that it’s going to be truly phenomenal.

While some are upset that Starfield will be capped at 30fps on consoles, it’s hard to stay disappointed for long when you consider that it'll boast over 1000 planets to explore, which is mind-boggling. Just imagine how long it’s going to take to play it to completion. There’s really not long to wait until we can dive into it, either, as it’s set to officially launch on 6 September. However, fans also have the option to jump in before then.

Take a look at the story trailer for Starfield below.

In case you were unaware, Starfield is getting a five-day early access period starting from 1 September. Anyone can dive in then if they’re willing to pay the price - it’s only available to those who buy the expensive Constellation Edition of the game (for roughly £250/$300) or the Premium Edition (for about £100/$100). Alternatively, you can buy the Premium Edition Upgrade for £34.99/$34.99, which should allow users to play early via Xbox Game Pass, too (meaning that you can simply pay for the upgrade rather than the entire game).

Although this is a super exciting thought, on Reddit, some fans are concerned that they might be disappointed if they pay extra money to get the game earlier than everyone else, and then find that it’s not what they hoped it would be.

“Fingers crossed it'll actually run smoothly on day one,” ZuphCud wrote. “Only reason I’m not buying until it comes out. […] Everyone should wait to be sure they know what they're buying. Most people wouldn't buy mystery fruit that they don't know the quality of, but then a lot of them will happily pre-order a game that hasn't been benchmarked by a single person publicly,” Webbeth commented.

Of course, if you’re wary about the quality of Starfield or just aren’t sure if you’ll find it fun, waiting until 6 September and playing via Xbox Game Pass is there as a cheaper option.
