If you are a fan of Xbox or maybe you are just Scottish, then you will love the announcement of a brand-new controller which is so rare that there are only nine in the world.

Despite being quite expensive, collecting DualSense or Xbox controllers can be quite the rush, especially with many being limited-edition or dedicated to some of our favourite games.

Now a brand-new Xbox controller is on the way and will be perfect to add to those collections, especially as this is perhaps the rarest one ever made.

In a bizarre collaboration that nobody saw coming, Xbox is teaming up with Edinburgh Royal Mile’s Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers to bring us the Ultra-Rare Xbox Tartan Controllers.

Better yet? Only nine exist in the entire world.

The kiltmakers, who have been the master of their craft for centuries, have now teamed up with the gaming giant to bring us this one-of-a-kind release.

“That tartan – woven in the iconic Xbox colours - now wraps nine ultra-rare Xbox controllers, available to win now in a global giveaway,” a statement on the release reads.

Courtesy of an exclusive giveaway, two winners will receive the GNK x Xbox tartan-wrapped controller whilst the two runners-up will either receive a tartan scrunchie or wallet.

Hey, it may not be as good as a whole Xbox controller but it is a cool way to get some tartan off one of the best makers in the world.

This is how the collaboration came to be:

“Xbox approached GNK to design an official tartan celebrating two decades of Xbox’s presence in Scotland—a country whose impact on global game design includes giants like Rockstar North, creators of Grand Theft Auto, with roots in Dundee and headquarters in Edinburgh’s Holyrood Road.

“The tartan was designed using Xbox’s signature green, black, and grey, with a micro-sett pattern inspired by pixelated graphics.

Each controller was carefully disassembled and hand-wrapped by GNK’s expert kiltmakers to ensure the pattern aligned perfectly, making every piece a unique collector’s item.”

How to enter

The giveaway went live just yesterday and will close on 8 December so you have plenty of time to enter and try your luck over on GNK’s announcement post.

Entering is simple: all you have to do is enter your name and email address.

However, if you wish to put more entries into the pot, you can follow multiple links to add an extra five lots to the giveaway.

This includes following an Instagram account and liking multiple posts, following a TikTok account and finally, subscribing to a newsletter. All pretty simple in exchange for those extra entries.

So if you want to add an ultra rare Xbox controller to your collection, make sure to take advantage of this giveaway over the next week.
