It was a packed event during last night's Xbox Games Showcase case full of reveals, trailers and release dates. One game that was at the show is the upcoming fantasy RPG Avowed.

Developed by Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds 2 studio, Obsidian Entertainment, Avowed, which looks to be a treat for Skyrim fans, was first announced during the Xbox Games Showcase in 2020. So with a four-year wait already in the bag, fans of the studio have had to be very patient indeed.

Check out the Avowed story trailer below!

“You are the envoy of Aedyr, a distant land, sent to investigate rumours of a spreading plague throughout the Living Lands - an island full of mysteries and secrets, danger and adventure, choices and consequences, and untamed wilderness,” reads the description of Avowed.

"You discover a personal connection to the Living Lands and an ancient secret that threatens to destroy everything. Can you save this unknown frontier and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them asunder?”

While no release date has been formally announced by either the publisher Xbox Game Studios or Obsidian Entertainment, it was expected that Avowed would be released at some point this year - something Obsidian seemingly just accidentally confirmed.

As spotted by IGN, in a post on the official Obsidian Entertainment website, Avowed game director Carrie Patel revealed that the fantasy RPG would be released on 12 November 2024. Those details were swiftly edited out but not before a screenshot was captured.

“The last few months at Obsidian Entertainment have been fast-paced and exciting,” read the initial website post. “Since we saw you at the Xbox Developer Direct this past January, we’ve been busy with Avowed getting it ready for release on November 12, 2024. Today, we’re thrilled to have revealed our first-ever story trailer at Xbox Games Showcase 2024, and to talk with you more about what we’ve shared.”

So, there you have it, while the release date for Avowed hasn't been officially announced (kind of), we can all mark our calendars for 12 November 2024. Avowed will be released on PC and Xbox Series X/S, it will also launch on Xbox Game Pass.
