I hope you’ve had enough time to gather some savings, as Xbox is set to drop some hardware very soon.
This year’s Xbox Showcase perhaps wasn’t as exciting as other instalments we’ve received in recent years, but it did bring us the unveiling of Xbox’s partnership with ASUS.
They’re not the native handhelds many of us were hoping for, but the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are officially on the way.
Admittedly, this is just a regular ol’ ROG Ally with additional Xbox branding and easy access to the Xbox Store, but that’s not to say that there’s not a market for such a console.

It definitely fits into Microsoft’s ongoing ‘This is an Xbox’ mission.
Upon being unveiled, very little was actually revealed about the console pair beyond their immediate features.
A release date nor pricing was unveiled, but both have since seemingly surfaced online.
According to a new report from Dealabs’ billbil-kun, the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X will both be released on 16 October.

The leaker confirms that while this is a European market date, he expects the launch to be simultaneous worldwide.
Of course, I do have to urge you to take this news with a pinch of salt until we receive confirmation, but billbil-kun has a pretty good track record.
They added that additional news is slated to drop at Gamescom 2025 which is being held the week after next.
As for pricing, that previously surfaced on ASUS’s own European website, with the Ally supposedly costing 599 euros, with the Ally X setting consumers back around 899 euros.

That’s around $700 and $1050, so it doesn’t sound as if it’ll be a cheap bit of kit.
I’ve got to say, I’m dubious as to how many people will purchase this collaboration; I’d have thought that many might hold out hope for a true first-party handheld.
As I said, billbil-kun claims we’ll hear more at Gamescom and the Geoff Keighley-fronted Opening Night Live showcase isn’t all that far away, due to be held on Tuesday 19 August.
Let’s hope that pricing and release date confirmation surfaces.
