Everybody has a gaming backlog. That’s the list of games you vow you’ll play yet never seemingly catch up with.

You see, the thing about a backlog is that it’s ever-expanding.

You play a game and I can almost guarantee that in that time, another five bangers will have launched in its place.

I too have a ‘watch’ list of sorts - a reminder of all of the upcoming releases that I want to keep an eye on, from major AAAs to exciting new indies.

Upon release, those games from my watch list immediately end up on my backlog and the vicious cycle repeats.

Well, with that in mind, I’m potentially going to add one more to your radar today.

Developer SpaceRocket Games has unveiled Permafrost, an exciting new action-adventure game that sees you attempt to survive the frozen wilds in a title that’s somewhat the baby of The Last of Us and Valheim.

ICYMI: Take a look at what we thought about Astro Bot below.

“Embark on a brutal journey of survival in a perpetual winter,” the synopsis teases.

“Hunt and gather resources for building and utilise deep survival mechanics to craft your way through a harsh, unforgiving landscape. Forge alliances or dominate the remnants of humanity in this chilling open world saga.”

Permafrost will take players to the year 2035 where the world has been ravaged by extreme weather.

It goes without saying that you’ll be tasked with hunting game, managing and gathering resources, and building a base if you want to stand a chance of surviving.

At your base, you’ll be able to create a shelter as well as areas to grow food.

In time, you can acquire blueprints to expand your abode creating additional essential structures.

You won’t have to face the wilds alone. You’ll have a faithful canine companion by your side who can help with carrying items.

Throughout your journey, so too can you choose whether to help rebuild wider society or whether to seize power for yourself which I’m sure will lead to some interesting varying playthroughs.

If you hadn’t gathered already, yes that means there are enemies too - who you can team up to take down in multiplayer co-op.

Permafrost remains without a release date but is available to wishlist on Steam now.
