Despite the clear appetite for it, Titanfall 3 is sadly not in production.
A free new offering on PC storefront Steam could, though, scratch the itch left behind by the mech-fuelled franchise.
Developed by HitBreak, Code RAPID is an upcoming third-person shooter that has dropped a free taster, which has been very well received.
Given my Titanfall comparison, yes, it’s perhaps obvious that Code RAPID also features mechs, so there’s definitely an Armored Core feel at play here too.

“On the distant world of Ondarea, war machines walk the planet long after the collapse,” begins the synopsis.
“Discover decaying cities, snow-choked military outposts, and industrial relics of a lost age, each mission peeling back the truth behind the cause of the drone lands, and questioning the purpose of a connection that never truly existed.”
Players will, unsurprisingly, pilot a mech, leaping, boosting, and striking their way around the battlefield.
Here are some other free treats from Steam:
You’ll be able to chain attacks together in “fast-paced encounters that reward timing, spacing, and control”.
Your mech is customisable, so players can create a build that suits their playstyle. The game’s customisation suite allows you to adapt the body, weapons, and even tuning.
Given that this is quite a new arrival, devs haven’t said much about the gameplay beyond that but I suppose that’s the whole point of the demo; the idea is that you’ll simply try Code RAPID out for yourself.
The demo features the game’s first three missions and introduces you to both the mech customisation mechanics and the core movement and combat systems.
It’s called an “early preview” of the game, so don’t be too surprised if the full version of Code RAPID probably doesn’t land in 2026.
Going off the responses to the demo, it looks like you should be able to get a couple of hours of playtime out of this one.

It sits at a very impressive rating on Steam of 90%, correct at the time of writing.
“As a Titanfall and overall mecha fan, I was immediately interested in this game and added it to my wishlist. After I played the demo, I became even more excited for the full game. Totally recommend, especially if you love mecha games,” wrote one happy player.
“You know, when you first boot up a game and can immediately know by just how the game controls that this is something special? That's this game for me,” added another.
Someone remarked, “I've been on the lookout for mech games that really scratch that itch with little to no success. From the little I've played of the demo, it's pretty much everything I've been looking for in a mech game, and I'm excited for the full release.”
It sounds as if Code RAPID is well worth keeping an eye on.
