The latest edition of Steam Next Fest is over, but many of its most popular offerings are sticking around for a little while longer - and that includes No Such Place.
Developed by ChillyRoom, No Such Place is a top-down shooter with a strong Resident Evil or The Last of Us feel as players make their way through a post-apocalyptic world, dealing with deadly threats.
“Welcome to the Unknown Research Consortium (U.R.C.), where you’re tasked with conducting reconnaissance missions, terminating unknown threats, gathering crucial information, and reaching the evacuation point in this treacherous top-down extraction shooter,” reads the game’s synopsis.
Throughout the game, you’ll traverse through this deadly world’s anomalous zones, venturing through “abandoned facilities”, “deserted outposts”, forests, and “deadly high-altitude snowfields”.

There’s definitely a survival feel to what No Such Place has to offer; that means you’ll need to scavenge weapons, medicine, gear, and supplies throughout your travels.

There are also ancient artefacts, biological samples, and encrypted documents to find, which could help you gain an understanding of the world around you.
You’ll want to bring that intel back to an extraction point where you can rest and skill up in a safe house before venturing out again.
“Bring back resources, maintain your gear, reinforce your facilities, and turn that ‘junk’ into another chance to survive. Never underestimate the value of logistics. Once you transform your Safe House into a fortress, your next step into the abyss will be steadier than the last,” devs note.

Of course, you’re not alone in this world. It’s plagued by varying monstrous entities you’ll need to fend off, as well as those belonging to rival factions, mercenaries, and even “madmen whose minds have been swallowed by the void”.
No Such Place has an interesting gunsmith system so you can actually fully customise your firearms, although you won’t get to test your creation until you’re out on the battlefield.
The game can be enjoyed alone or with up to three friends via co-op.
Unfortunately, No Such Place hasn’t set a launch date beyond the vague promise of 2026, but you can still sample its free Steam demo.
The demo was the 20th most-played offering of Steam Next Fest, which is pretty impressive considering how many hundreds of games are involved.
The demo allows you to play through the opening stages of the game and, yes, that includes via co-op.
Here are several other great free Steam treats:
There are no reviews listed on Steam as the demo is looped into the game’s main listing and, of course, No Such Place isn’t out yet.
YouTuber Fizgig referred to the game, though, as a “must-play” in his playthrough of the demo, which runs for around 30 minutes.
“Please don't miss out on this game. With how much attention to detail and how well-crafted this game is, I can totally see it being a huge hit when it comes out. If you enjoy extraction games, looters, or honestly any well-crafted experience, this needs to be on your radar,” the YouTuber said.
This certainly looks like one to keep an eye on in the very busy remainder of 2026.
