This epic RPG recently made its way to Steam despite first being launched elsewhere back in 2024 and it seems as though arriving to a brand-new platform has done wonders for its popularity.

Launching back in May 2024 for Android, iOS and Windows before heading to PlayStation 5 back in January, this open-world RPG arrived on Steam back in April and has already found itself hitting peak player counts following a major update.

The game is Wuthering Waves developed and published by Kuro Games - perfect for fans of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail.

Since arriving on Steam back in April, Wuthering Waves has become one of the platform’s most successful titles as the gacha game has reached a new concurrent player record courtesy of a brand-new update.

Launched on 11 June, Update 2.4 saw millions of fans head back to the RPG and as a result, Wuthering Waves hit a new 24-hour peak of over 32,600 players.

This is perhaps unsurprising considering that Wuthering Waves was one of 2024’s most popular mobile games with players enjoying the anime art style mixed with soulslike combat.

As with any live-service game, it continues to be updated to this day so it is no surprise that it has managed to bag itself a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam already.

Best of all, Wuthering Waves is completely free to play across all platforms so you really have no reason not to try out this epic RPG for yourself.

If you are still unsure, the official synopsis reads as follows: “Wuthering Waves is a story-rich open-world action RPG with a high degree of freedom. You wake from your slumber as Rover, joined by a vibrant cast of Resonators on a journey to reclaim your lost memories and change the world.”

Thanks to its gacha elements, players will be able to “roll” for brand-new characters in order to build up their team and so this is definitely a title you can sink hours into this weekend.
