Popular Steam FPS launches limited-time free DLC, claim until next week

Steam players have a limited time to pick up a free DLC for a popular FPS game that was released last year.

You might not have played it, what with how busy last year felt for game releases, but Voidtrain was an incredibly fun FPS which was released at the tail-end of 2025 after a period of early access.

Following the successful launch, the popular FPS has released a couple of DLC packs over the course of the year, running temporary campaigns where players can claim them for free in the week of their launch.

The Big Catch DLC for Voidtrain came out earlier this week, and to celebrate the release HypeTrain Digital is giving it away for free to all Steam players who redeem it before October 19.

“We are pleased to announce that Big Catch DLC is now available and this week you can get it for free as part of HypeTrain's Publisher Sale,” reads the announcement from HypeTrain.

The DLC introduces fishing to Voidtrain, a feature that was teased during the launch of the game but never featured. However, the feature has now been added to the game with the Big Catch DLC.

Of course, you might be thinking that fishing is impossible for a game without water, at which point we’d say you’re wrong. In the DLC, you catch different species of fish and earn scales with every one you reel in. You can upgrade your gear using these scales to allow you to catch bigger and better fish.

HypeTrain has added new ways to decorate your train as well. The scales that you earn from fishing can be spent on new cosmetic items to fill up your train, with a new theme for walls and cabins and other interior items.

After you’ve unlocked all the upgrades for your fishing gear, leftover scales can be used on reward bags of different tiers which allow you to stock up on extra resources.

If you’re playing co-op too, good catches will also be shown off via a leaderboard to show which players are expert fisher.

Meanwhile, HypeTrain Digital also has a sale happening right now across Steam, in which you can pick up several games from the publisher at a reduced price.

Voidtrain is currently 50% off, meaning you can pick up the game at the lower price of $14.99 / £12.49. The game’s first DLC, Tour de Void, is also available for you to pick up at 40% off.

Other HypeTrain Digital games that are on sale right now include Pathologic 3, which is 35% off; Die in the Dungeon at 40% off, and Breathedge which is 90% off. The sale runs until October 26, so you've still got a bit of time to check out the deals.
