A brand new AAA shooter has launched with free Day 1 DLC, but you only have a limited time to claim it.

Nacon’s The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu launched this week to mixed reviews from players, but to sweeten the deal the publisher is giving you until the end of the month to claim the Lost Explorers’ Sword Pack.

The DLC adds two new cosmetic options for your weapons in the game, allowing you to spice up these swords with an exclusive look before you head out on your expedition.

The Lost Explorers’ Sword Pack normally costs £4.59, but players can pick it up on Steam right now for 100% off until July 29, after which it’ll go back up to its standard price.

On Steam, players can’t buy or redeem DLC without owning the base game, so you’ll need to actually own The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu on there if you want to claim the free content.

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is getting mixed reviews so far, but players still see the vision

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is a four-player co-op shooter featuring Lovecraftian monsters and oppressive atmospheres.

You play as a team of explorers who search for riches buried within the Mound, located in a hostile jungle filled with many different horrors lurking within.

The game features a madness system where different aspects of the jungle play with your perception, with unpredictable threats distorting your senses, allowing paranoia to set in with your group.

In between expeditions, you board your galleon which is where you can change gear, split equipment up among your group, and prepare for the next area to explore.

However, this sanctuary changes quickly once you hit the mainland, and have to rely on proximity voice chat and careful coordination to survive against these otherworldly threats which can be found within The Mound.

Since launching earlier this week, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu has received mixed reviews from players who’ve sunk some time into it. At the moment, the game sits at 62% positive reviews on Steam.

“Overall, despite its performance issues and some rough edges, I've been enjoying my time with the game. If you're interested, now is probably the best time to try it while it's on sale. Make sure to watch gameplay from videos or streams if you wish to judge before buying,” reads one positive review from a player with 3.5 hours on record.

However, a negative review says that the game “In its current Quality of Lifeless state, I can't recommend this game right now for the price they are asking.”

Another negative review said that they “played with a friend and we both noticed that the optimization is pretty bad. Also for some reason the combat + movement of the players is way slower than the enemies movement + attacks.”

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is available now on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
