A free RPG that launched earlier this year has now received a release on Steam, and fans are loving it.
There are already plenty of great free RPGs available on Steam like Where Winds Meet and Guild Wars 2, but one that’s jumped up in popularity since its release in January this year has been Arknights: Endfield.
Originally released on January 22, Arknights: Endfield has finally come to Steam, and it’s made quite the splash with players.
Acting as a spin-off of the 2019 game Arknights, Endfield is an action RPG with strategy elements where players take on the role of the Endministrator of Endfield Industries, an organisation dedicated to building and expanding on the planet Talos-II in pursuit of making a new home for humanity.

Most of Talos-II remains untamed, so you’ll have to conquer vast wildlands and uncharted territories that are still waiting to be discovered. The game features a mix of base building and strategy management gameplay, where you harvest resources from the planet and use them to craft and expand your settlements.
Outside of this, the RPG elements come into play as you explore Talos-II and enter battles with different enemies, taking a four-person squad with you using operators you meet out in the field.

Arknights: Endfield is a hit with players on Steam
Released earlier this year, Arknights: Endfield has proven to be pretty popular with players. At launch, the game earned an 88% recommended score on OpenCritic, with many reviewers pointing to the stylish graphics of the world and characters as a high point.
On Steam, it has 88% positive reviews as of writing, indicating that player sentiment toward this new version is “Very Positive”.
“This is definitely a game worth adding to your roster of F2P games to either embrace and devote your time to, or simply dabble in from time to time while you await other games you're more serious about,” reads one positive player review on Steam.
“If you're looking for one of the most polished and unique 3D gacha games out there, Arknights: Endfield is definitely worth a look,” reads a second review.
A more in-depth review of the game reads: “Arknights Endfield is a game that I've had a lot of conflicting opinions on. I'm a day one player for both Arknights and Arknights Endfield as well as a beta tester (including for this very Steam version!), I've been invested in this franchise from the beginning and a big fan at that; Endfield is a strong, unique game that struggles with its own identity sometimes.
“I don't think I've played many other games that have gone from ‘it's so over’ to ‘we're so back’ from patch to patch this consistently, but the core gameplay and systems are enough to keep me engaged through ups and downs; and with the latest version previews, things are certainly looking up.”
If you’re interested in checking out Arknights: Endfield, you can pick it up now on Steam, and it’s also available on Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and mobile devices.
