Steam drops free download for gorgeous new 2026 game

Get your hands on it now

It may not be launching until 2026, but you can already partly get your hands on Aegis Force: The Scorian War - an RPG you’re going to want to keep an eye on.

I have to say, 2026 is already shaping up very nicely.

Fable, Gears of War: E-Day, and Saros are just a couple of the games already confirmed to be launching.

And let’s not forget that The Elder Scrolls VI, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and The Witcher IV remain without release dates.

Could one or more of those games land next year?

Well, one title that is landing is Aegis Force: The Scorian War, a strategy RPG from Deseret Games Studio.

It boasts a stunning art style, making use of pixel art 2.5D visuals.

You can see those visuals in action in the trailer below.

Aegis Force is a story-driven tactical JRPG that blends tactical turn-based combat with full world and town exploration,” the synopsis reads.

“It captures the essence of genre-defining JRPG classics with stunning pixel art 2.5D visuals, a morally complex story, and an intricately detailed world with secrets to uncover.”

Aegis Force: The Scorian War markets itself as being in the same vein as Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Shining Force, so if you’re a fan of those franchises, you’ll likely enjoy what’s on offer here.

You’ll play as Callon, who must make use of “the powers of a Tactimagus”, tying together spells and attacks to forge victory with his ever-expanding team.

There are over 15 characters you can recruit, from warriors to engineers, as together, you plan heists, battle monsters, foil dark plots, and unlock “the mysteries of a continent caught in a century-long struggle”.

As I said, the game isn’t expected out until 2026. When it does launch, it’ll offer players a thrilling 30-hour single-player campaign.

In the meantime though, you can sample its free demo over on Steam to get a feel for what the game has to offer.
