Steam has dropped four free games that you can download from today (28 October), and two of them are well-received by the community.
In this day and age, it’s especially important to save money whenever we can when it comes to our beloved hobby of playing video games. Because it’s not just household bills continually on the rise, games, consoles and subscription service prices are always going up.
Speaking of subscription services, to be fair, the likes of PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass are still great ways to save money, because they can each grant access to tons of games to play in an instant, for a fee that tends to be much cheaper than a single AAA video game.
However, when it comes to free games that we can play with no catch, that’s always a bonus, and the Steam store can be a great way to play such cost-cutting delights.

As brought to our attention by the Twitter account ‘Free Steam Games’, here are four titles that you can download and play right now:

- Artist Slayer/Rush: “The first entry in the Artist Slayer series. Through a VR headset, the player’s soul is transferred into SLASH, a special operative of the Slayer Forces, tasked with cutting down, shooting, and annihilating hordes of rampaging monsters on the surface.”
- Vacubot: “A virus has corrupted a massive production robot, causing it to churn out hostile machines without end. The player must infiltrate the danger zone directly, destroy the endlessly pouring robots, and bring down the production robot—the source of chaos.”
- Gromopoli: “Is an online board game. Buy properties, receive rent and avoid the enemy's properties to survive. Play with up to seven other players, in teams of two to four players, and on boards of varying sizes!”
- Legacy's Allure: “Is a customisable, card-based wargame with no randomness. Command warriors, beasts, and mages on the battlefield to outplay your opponent in this chess-inspired fantasy battle.”
Steam community loves Gromopoli and Legacy’s Allure
“Fantastic game, lots of fun and exactly what you'd expect it to be. Impressive that it's been made by one guy; everything is really smooth and works well. Can't wait for more maps and skins in the future,” said KaiserBlake when reviewing Gromopoli.

“Even as someone new to strategy games, Legacy’s Allure won me over fast. The gameplay isn’t based on luck; it’s all about how strategically you use your units against your opponent,” wrote Christine. “It constantly challenges me to think ahead and plan my moves carefully, which keeps the game exciting and mentally stimulating. The more I play, the more fun it gets, especially since every match can end differently.”
Hopefully, at least one of the above will tickle your fancy.
