2024 has proven itself to be a pretty incredible year for video games already, and we're not even done yet.

Animal Well. Balatro. Dragon's Dogma 2. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Hades II. The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom. We've had some absolute bangers, to be sure.

Whether you're more interested in weird little indies or massive AAA hits, I'm sure we can all agree free games are always extra special.

Over on Steam, as uncovered by the excellent Free Steam Games on Twitter (go follow them!), there are currently four new games you can download and keep forever for the low cost of nothing at all.

The first is Stampede Royal Racing, a free-to-play kart racer that already has a huge amount of positive reviews.

One fan writes: "Cross Mario Kart with Fall Guys and you'll get a fairly good idea of what this game is like. Fast and action packed races between a mind-blowing 60 other players."

Sticking with the kart racing theme, the next free game is Oh Baby Kart. This one has also been largely well received by players, with many specifically saying they can't actually believe it's a free game.

Next is Chess Ultimate, which is a colourful twist on chess with a roster of different "characters", vibrant boards, and some really well-done animations. Again, those who have played this one say it's really pretty damn good, so check it out if you're into your chess.

Last, but by no means least, is Pizzapocalypse. This is a seriously impressive 3D platformer made by a team at

the Breda University of Applied Sciences that has clearly been inspired by bangers like Super Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie.

So there you go, a really quite interesting mix of free games for you to download and keep this month! Dive in and have a blast.
