Steam has become quite good at giving out free stuff to the deserving masses in recent times and it doesn't look like that's changing any time soon. That's because the platform now has six games available that won't cost you a single penny, and there's plenty to like amongst them.
The first one to look out for is The DeadLine, a game that approaches incremental survival mechanics and ever-popular zombie hordes with an impressive degree of ingenuity. Currently sitting on a Very Positive rating on Steam, the game tasks players with travelling down a zombie infested trainline to get to the end and reconvene with their families. At each station, you get a chance to resupply and rearm before taking on a ton of zombies to get to the next checkpoint.
Up next to bat is Stellar Witch, a grid-based action game that it's difficult to find a comparison point for in other titles. Deckstination is a roguelike deck-builder that's set-up to give players random skill draws to take on different enemies. If something doesn't work, the game encourages experimentation to find the combination that works best against a particular foe.
Completing the roster of free games is StacKit, Shadow Puppeteer and The Mims Beginning. The latter should appeal to fans of Black and White, Spore or anything in between, as a God-game where you'll need to take care of your little creatures and the island they live on. With divine powers and some genuinely impressive systems like animal breeding, it's a hark back to a time when the genre was much more prevalent on PC.

Regardless of your tastes, there should be a little something for everyone in that selection but, with everything being free, what have you got to lose by downloading a few and giving them a go?
