If you’re into cosy video games such as Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, then you might want to check out this game on Steam today.

When life brings you chaos, there’s perhaps no better distraction from our worldly woes than playing our beloved video games, whether we play on PC, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo.

We all have our preferences when it comes to genres that help to calm our nerves, but perhaps no genre is quite as relaxing as cosy simulators, such as the likes of the aforementioned, Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley.

While having entirely different budgets and resources, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the most recent entry in the beloved Nintendo series and the indie darling that is Stardew Valley, are two of the most beloved games of this genre.

With each, you farm, craft, build and interact with charming NPCs until your heart is content, both of which can offer a level of longevity that few games can rival.

However, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Stardew Valley have been out for quite a few years, and as much as you might love them, it’s always nice to try something new, such as this title that you can download and play via Steam right now.

The game in question is developed by Josh Koenig Games, and it’s called Firefly Village.

“Welcome to Firefly Village!” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam. “As its newest arrival, discover the joy of a simple, rural life, where there's no rush, no deadlines to meet, no arbitrary demands to fulfil, just you, a plot of land, and wholesome neighbours to meet, make friends, and become a part of this tight-knit community."

It continues, “With four-minute days and seven-day seasons, you’ll experience clear progression without the overwhelming tasks. Whether it’s the satisfying pluck of a harvest or the gentle splash of fishing, every action is crafted to bring joy, all at your own pace!”

Firefly Village is out now, and if it looks like it could be your cup of tea, you might as well give it a go, as it's running an introductory offer of just £5.75 until 25 August.
