Steam drops 25 massive games for you to download free in limited-time deal

Steam users are going to want to check out the Steam FPS Fest for some great freebies.

If you’re a fan of first-person shooters, you’re going to want to head on over to Steam.

The storefront is currently holding its Steam FPS Fest which runs until 10am PT / 5pm GMT on 22 April.

It features a wide array of incredible discounts. You can currently grab DOOM with 80% off, Fallout 4 with 75% off, Far Cry 5 with 85% off, and Resident Evil Biohazard with 60% off.

Elsewhere on the event page, you’ll find a wide selection of demos you can enjoy for a limited-time.

Whilst I can’t possibly list and delve into every single demo on offer, I will aim to highlight the best out there.

In terms of demos available for upcoming titles, ROBOBEAT, Exosuit, Undead City, ASTROSWARM, Selaco, Road to Vostok, Z-Grav: Clash, Agent Simulation, Countdown Final Zone, and Mio and the Hot Summer are proving to be the most popular options.

From solo developer Simon Fredholm, ROBOBEAT is a rhythm-based looter shooter that sees you play as Ace, “a bounty hunter on a mission to capture robot-gone-rogue Frazzer in his ever-shifting lair”.

Developed by Emergency Exit, Exosuit is a dynamic shooter that aims to maximise on the fun of the gameplay: “The game has no plot and the emphasis is only on unbridled action and unusual visual style.” Both are proving to be early hits with players.

Half-Life 2 is one of the titles you can check out.

As for what’s excelling in the ‘recently released’ category of demos, you may want to check out Void Wizard, Over Islands, Frogmonster, Sky Squadron, Bears in Space, Steel Manticore, Blockpost Mobile, Feline Shenanigans, BeachHead, or Meteoric VR.

Void Wizard comes from Antique Gear Games and sort of looks like what you’d get if you made Minecraft an FPS.

“Dual-wield wands to levitate, manipulate time, conjure explosions, and use other unique abilities in this fast-paced FPS game with roguelike elements! Explore procedurally generated dungeons. Buy powerful upgrades from suspicious looking shopkeepers. Defeat the void wizard,” the description reads.

Aridide Productions’ Over Islands has caught my eye. In this game, you’ll “travel from island to island, build a thriving flying city, battle air pirates aboard your zeppelin, and make important decisions as you dive into ancient temples to defeat the children of the goddess and slay their demonic armies.”

Elsewhere, the demos for ULTRAKILL, Roboquest, Soulslinger: Envoy of Death, Half-Life 2, and Voidtrain are all proving to be popular too.

There must be something there that ticks your boxes. If not, it’s well worth having a browse through the Steam FPS Fest page.
