Skyrim meets Resident Evil in jaw-dropping new free download

We have Doom: The Dark Ages at home

This upcoming Steam title looks like it’s taking some light inspiration from a few sources, including one very specific recent title.

Do you like killing waves of never-ending skeletons in Skyrim? Do you enjoy the first-person horror vibes of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard? Do you love essentially everything about Doom: The Dark Ages?

In that case, do I have the game for you!

Vault of Fallen is a first-person shooter/first-person melee combat game on Steam from developer and publisher Hammer Forge Games, and it just got a brand new demo.

So, as of now, we don’t actually know an awful lot about Vault of Fallen. The devs behind the game have published a few things here and there, although I can’t actually find links to any of the games they’ve reportedly worked on through their official site.

Either way, Vault of Fallen does look like a bit of a step up from their usual work, and it looks serviceable enough in the trailers.

Does seem like they were heavily inspired by Doom: The Dark Ages for this one, though. I mean, having a shield and a shotgun isn’t something exclusive to that game, but the timing does seem kind of funny.

Unfortunately, the demo for Vault of Fallen doesn’t have any reviews on Steam, as of writing. I did watch a few playthroughs from folks on YouTube though, and they described it as… fine.

I think you might have to just try this one for yourself this time around. The developers are clearly quite a small team, so I’m not going to give them any grief, but I hope that the demo for this one is more of a proof-of-concept kind of thing.

Here’s hoping they’ve got enough gas left in the tank to get across the finish line, because who doesn’t love shooting zombies with a shotgun?
