Red Dead Redemption 2 meets Resident Evil in new Steam horror

Red Dead Redemption 2 meets Resident Evil in new Steam horror

This indie horror delight is Red Dead Redemption 2 meets Resident Evil

What if we could have a game that blends Red Dead Redemption 2 with Resident Evil into one gloriously gory horror?

To be fair, we have already kind of had that with the brilliant expansion Undead Nightmare which was recently bundled with the Red Dead Redemption port for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. So, what if an indie studio put its spin on the Wild West formula? Well, that’s what developer and publisher, Hyperstrange looks to achieve with the new horror on PC, Blood West.

Check out the Blood West trailer below!

“Weird West legends meet eldritch horror in Blood West, an immersive stealth FPS. Become the Undead Gunslinger, doomed to roam the barren lands until he manages to purge their curse, freeing his soul. 3 varied scenarios, perk-based character progression, and 20+ hours of gameplay await you,” reads the description of the game on Steam. “The Canyons, the Swamp, and the Mountains. Each swarming with abominable monsters and unholy demons, these are open-ended worlds for you to explore freely at your own pace.”

Blood West is presented with retro-style, low-res and low-3D visuals and with a content warning that reads “Scenes of gore and brutal violence are to be expected,” which will surely please retro and survival horror fans alike.

At the time of writing, Blood West has received “Very Positive” reviews on Steam with comments such as “I can’t believe how good Blood West is,” from Rock Paper Shotgun and “Blood West's excellent stealth-based FPS gameplay pairs perfectly with its weird western setting. Must-Play!” said Screen Rant.

Being the retro-inspired game that it is, the PC requirements for Blood West are quite forgiving with the minimum specs needing an Intel Core i5-7500, a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M graphics card, 8GB RAM and just 5GB of storage space.

Blood West is available on Steam right now, but is not currently available on Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch. Hopefully, that will change in the near future.
