Twelve free games can be yours on Steam right this second, and, surprisingly, almost all of them even look to be… good?
I’ve written a lot of these free games lists. Unfortunately, when it comes to the Steam ones, I’d say that 50% of the games featured on them look absolutely rubbish.
Obviously, that’s mostly due to how lenient Valve is about letting games on the Steam storefront. To be fair, “lenient” might not be the right word exactly, as there are a few hoops you have to go through to get your game on platform, but they are at least less stringent than Microsoft and Sony.
That’s why it’s nice to write a list like this one, where the overwhelming majority of the games featured seem to genuinely be worth your time. Thank you in advance to the Free Steam Games Twitter account for collating all of the entries on this list!

Right, before we get started, I am going to do my best to rank these from worst to best. However, keep in mind that I’ve not actually played any of these, and I’m mostly just going off vibes and Steam reviews.
First up, Dragon Ace Casino by developer and publisher GameSpring Inc.
This is just a casino simulator, featuring the likes of baccarat, blackjack, poker, and some slot games. To be honest, it doesn’t look bad and the reviews seem positive, but there is some glaring use of AI-generated content in there– and unfortunately for the devs, the line-up here is so strong that this means I’m dubbing this one the weakest of the bunch.
Here's an odd one: Meowment from developer and publisher 고오급진팀.

I didn’t think I’d see a Limbo-inspired game in the year of our lord 2025, but here we are. If anything, I can only fault this one for being too similar to the game it's clearly inspired by, because it looks solid to me.
Galaxy Card Game is a PvP card battler from FOGMOE, and it looks fine. To be frank, I don’t have too much to say about this one. Reviews are solid, but it’s hard to critique a card game on vibes alone. At the very least, the UI leaves a lot to be desired. This one could potentially deserve to be lower down on the list, but I’m putting it in the neutral tier for now.

Gogyō is a turn-based tactics and card battler from developer and publisher Adopt Game... I think.

Again, this one is going to have to go in the neutral tier, because I have zero idea what’s going on in the gameplay videos, and there are barely any reviews to help discern what’s going on. It does look pretty though, so it gets points for that.
Next up, Hock from developer and publisher Ranzy.
It looks like a blend of air hockey and some sort of NES racing game, where you have to use your car’s special abilities to ram your opponent out of the way and score. Looks fun, but not incredibly visually appealing.
Brawlers of the West: Prologue is a "physics-based" fighting game from developer and publisher Inogames.

This one looks super janky and visually sort of flat, so why am I ranking it above so many others on this list? Because it looks ridiculous and fun. Seems that there’s a longer game on the way (that will, assumedly, cost money), so this could be one to keep an eye on.
Game for Aliens is a top-down roguelike shooter from developer and publisher nogagong, and it looks to be a lot more fun than the screenshots may lead you to believe.
I know this one looks a bit basic, but I think there’s potential here. Or maybe I’m just a sucker for Vampire Survivors-inspired stuff.
Bip and Bop is a two-player only 3D puzzle platformer in which you and a buddy have to work together to traverse a series of painful looking puzzles.

I think this looks neat, and I do love an inventive co-op game. Only thing from keeping this higher is that a few of the reviews said it’s a little buggy, but hopefully the devs fix that in the near future.

Beer Machine is a horror adventure game from developer and publisher Crack Creations about getting your dad a beer. I don’t know what’s scary about getting your dad an alcoholic beverage, but I’m intrigued to find out. The only complaint I can see in the reviews is that this is too short, which is a good sign to me.
TERPENIE is a creepy-looking 3D walking simulator from developer and publisher Chugunovkos, which tasks you with doing stuff like "cleaning, cooking, and exploring your own room".
Ok, obviously there’s more to it than that, because something sinister is clearly going on in the background here. Looks to be worth a go just for the story alone, but I’m also a pretty big fan of the PS1-esque art style.
Speaking of, next up is The Roach Hotel from developer and publisher Hawt Combo. Odd to have two games going for the same visual aesthetic back to back, but this one seems to be going all in on the CRT vibes. Looks creepy, so I’m in.
And finally, Mobile Murder Mystery from developer and publisher Arlen Szabo.
I can’t say I’m a huge fan of visual novels myself, but I do like the look of this one. It’s really reminding me of Serial Experiments Lain for some reason, and the reviews are positively glowing. Guess I’ll have to see what all the fuss is about for myself.
Phew, that’s the whole list. Some genuine bangers on here by the looks of things, and I don’t think you can go wrong with whichever one you pick.
The next one of these free Steam games lists is going to be up against some stiff competition. And as always, head over to the Steam store to take advantage.
