Steam 'Very Positive' Free Hit Game Is One You Won’t Stop Playing

Steam has a brand new free game that is proving to be a hit with players, with an 83% positive review score rating.

Monopoly Go-like game Gromopoli is making the rounds on Steam at the moment for its similarities to the popular mobile game, and it’s easy to see why players have become obsessed.

Bearing in mind that Monopoly Go isn’t available on Steam, or even PC for that matter, Gromopoli offers a nice alternative for players who’d prefer to play it on their computers. And for the grand price of nothing, there’s not much of a barrier for entry.

So, what exactly is Gromopoli about, and what has got players enjoying it so much?

Well, it plays out pretty similarly to Monopoly. You play an online game board centred around the ownership of properties, where you must buy as many properties as possible while also bankrupting other players.

Gromopoli supports up to eight players on a single board, and includes either solo play or team games. The team games are particularly interesting, allowing you to participate in four teams of two players each, or two teams of four players each. This functions both online and offline.

Gromopoli was in early access for a number of years, where players were able to support the game with feedback.

Using this feedback, developer Kilo was able to tune the game and make improvements for any issues the players were having.

“Fantastic game, lots of fun and exactly what you'd expect it to be tbh,” reads one player’s review. “Impressive that its been made by one guy, everything is really smooth and works well. Can't wait for more maps and skins in the future.”

“While some people at first glance may say this is just a bad Monopoly ripoff, I'd say you're right,” reads another. “But that's what really makes this game shine. It's simplistic nature and fast play really makes this game enjoyable, especially with friends.”

“Free and fun, that's the two words I have got to say about this game,” reads a third review. “Been playing it for hours with friends, lost many of them but at least I lost them while laughing.”

The total amount of positive reviews brings Gromopoli up to an 83% positive rating, so it’s safe to say that players are really enjoying it at the moment. The game came out of early access on 19 October, 2025.
