It’s no secret that 2023 was a stellar year for game releases, not so much for the industry itself but that’s another story. With that in mind, 2024’s release roster has a lot to live up to.

There are plenty of exciting launches due this year, including The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, Tekken 8, Star Wars Outlaws, Alone In The Dark, and Princess Peach Showtime. I’m sure you’re well aware of these titles though. Here at GAMINGbible, we also like to shout out and spotlight the games you might not have heard of and today, I’d love to introduce you to Gangstar New York - a game that is likely to appeal to fans of Grand Theft Auto and Payday.

Take a look at Gangstar New York in action below.

Developed by Gameloft, Gangstar New York is an upcoming free-to-play open world multiplayer third-person shooter. The synopsis reads, “It’s all about the money in the city that never sleeps. Grab your gun, jump in a competitive playground and use the streets to your advantage to become the richest Gangstar in near-future New York, in an all-out competition for cash.”

In Gangstar New York, the city is under the surveillance of Aurora Inc, a massive tech conglomerate which has launched an algorithmic monitoring network. This is designed to stop crimes before they start, but the cameras are occasionally turned off for 20-minute intervals when “experimental technological initiatives” need to be tested.

It’s during these 20-minute intervals that you and 19 fellow players will compete in a city-wide crime competition. The player who scores the most cash wins. You can gather cash via various nefarious crimes, or you can steal it from other players.

Unfortunately, we don’t have an exact release date for the game but the alpha test did recently wrap up so that bodes well. Devs should be in the final throes of perfecting the game - and we’ll be keeping an eye on any announcements.
