Fallout meets Days Gone in massive new open world adventure

Fallout meets Days Gone in massive new open world adventure

There be monsters here

Have you not been pining for a new Days Gone game? Well, this isn’t it. However, the game we’re about to reveal to you is a combination of Fallout and Days Gone, meaning it has much potential.

This upcoming massive new open world adventure comes from indie developer Starry Studio, with Once Human its first game; what a debut. Although we haven’t got much to go on besides screenshots and trailers, what we’ve seen is extremely promising, and sets up a wonderfully dystopian atmosphere for us to dive into.

Will Once Human be as good as Resi 7? We'll let you decide!

Seeing as Days Gone fans believe a sequel is deserved due to the “technical marvel” that is the first game, this is likely the only way they’re going to get the follow-on they so crave. Sure, it isn’t from the same devs or set in the same universe, but it has all the hallmarks of greatness that, hopefully, won’t be “wasted”.

If you’re still not sold on the game, allow Steam’s Once Human description to whet your appetite: “The apocalypse changed everything. Human, animal, plant… all are infested by an alien creature – Stardust. As a Meta-Human, you can survive the contamination and use the power of Stardust. Play alone or join others to fight, build and explore. When the world is in chaos, you are our last hope.”

Does anyone else want to sing “It’s the end of the world as we know it”? Yes, the premise is predictable and familiar, but that doesn’t mean this game doesn’t have surprises in store for the PC players willing to brave such a bleak, unforgiving world.

As the game hasn’t been released yet, there are no reviews for us, or you, to read. However, while we have to work with a bit of blind faith here, it won’t be long before its intended Q3 2024 launch comes around and we’re able to play the game for ourselves.
