Fallout fans, check out this free Steam RPG while you still can

If you love the classic Fallout games you'll definitely want to take a look at this brand-new action-RPG, which looks more than a little like the beloved post-apocalyptic series.

Unless you've been living inside a tiny shoe at the bottom of the ocean, you'll probably be aware that Steam Next Fest is in full swing. This is, essentially, a chance for you to download and check out hundreds of free demos on Steam for some of 2024's incoming games.

But with so many free demos available as part of Steam Next Fest and only a limited amount of time to play them, it's literally impossible to see everything. That's why we're here to help you narrow it down, and I simply insist that if you're into your Fallout, you'll love Survive The Fall.

"Scavenge, craft, build and fight," reads the game's Steam page description. "Survive The Fall is an open-world action game with a rich story. Collect loot and fight to rebuild your community and its base. Uncover the secrets of the fallen world after a meteorite strike."

Survive The Fall is all about building up your own settlement from scratch as you assemble a team to explore the world, scout out any dangers (spoiler: there are plenty), and do you best to not die a horrible death. There's more than a little of the classic Fallout in Survive The Fall, though it's worth noting this game is much more focused on action than the methodical lateral thinking of those early Fallout titles.

That's not to say you don't need to use your noggin, of course. Survive The Fall forces players to think about the risks they take, how they spend their resources, and when to back down from a fight. The game is currently listed as "coming soon", but you have until next week to try out the demo.
