Fallout, Dying Light, and Valheim collide in Steam game you can play free now

This new Steam game is a blend of Fallout and Dying Light, and you can play free now

The survival genre is a crowded one, but if I know anything about gamers it's that they love building bases and fighting hordes of zombies. So who could resist a game that does both?

An upcoming Steam game I recently discovered on my travels through Steam's upcoming demos looks to be an interesting blend of Fallout 4, Dying Light, and Valheim. Not a bad mix at all. Better yet, you can check it out for yourself for free right now.

Take a look at the open-world adventure in action below!

The game is called IfSunSets. Why it's all one word I have no idea, but it looks like it could be pretty decent. Not AAA level, as you can probably tell from looking at it, but not a bad way to spend a few weeks really, is it? Plus it's clear a lot of love and ambition is behind this, and that goes a long wat.

IfSunSets looks to borrow inspiration from Dying Light, using the incoming night to scare you witless. See, you have most of the day to scavenge for supplies in relative peace, but as soon as the sun goes down you have to survive against hordes of horrifying monsters. If you've been resourceful you can use what you scrabbled together to build a base and keep the monsters at bay until dawn. Not a bad gameplay loop, right?

Given the fact Steam has virtually no quality control (see The Day Before) we'd advise maybe not getting too excited about this one. However, the demo looks like it'll be a good way to get to grips with what developer Polymorph is trying to do, so it certainly can't hurt to at least check it out.

IfSunSets is currently planned to release early 2024, so if you like what you played in the demo be sure to keep an eye on the progress of this particular survival adventure.
