The weekend is fast approaching and with a bit of a lull in terms of big game releases, what better way to spend it than by diving into a freebie which is taking Steam users by surprise.

Launching on to Steam this week, Emptiness Sire is a brand-new demo which players can dive into right now ahead of the game’s full release in the future. Developed by Oaks Games Studio, it is an indie puzzle game set in a world consumed by cosmic horror.

With just three survivors left, the player must embark on a journey filled with turn-based puzzles and deadly enemies in order to discover that death may just be part of the journey, but you cannot undo its consequences.

“Three survivors. A world in ruins. The beginning of a journey into the unknown,” the official tagline reads.

Set across a post-apocalyptic world, Emptiness Sire will see the Knight, the Explorer, and the Guardian face devastated ruins and cities which they will need to overcome in order to embark.

To do this, they will face turn-based puzzles which require both strategy and willpower.

With over 160 unique puzzles to solve, Emptiness Sire is not for the faint of heart but its free demo will give you just a taste of what you can expect.

The demo, which is free to download, will give you access to the first fragment of the story where our intrepid survivors take their first steps through a world filled with cosmic horror.

It is here that players will face their first puzzles as they “learn to master the undo, a power capable of reversing actions and altering fate, even if not everything can be undone.”

Each playable character offers their own unique abilities and inner conflicts and it is up to you to send them on their way across multiple obstacles and puzzles.

In the demo, you will not only get a glimpse of the corruption that soaks through the very core of Emptiness Sire, but you will also experience your first encounter with the atmosphere, narrative, and horrors that face you in the future.

Steam demo players are loving it

“What you experience here is only the beginning,” the synopsis continues.

“The full version of Emptiness Sire expands the world and dives deeper into the blend of cosmic horror and science fiction, taking the protagonists across four distinct Worlds — from cultist cities to acid deserts and impossible ruins.”

Despite being added to Steam just yesterday, the Emptiness Sire demo already has multiple positive reviews.

“I’ve just finished this demo, and I honestly loved it in so many ways,” one comment read.

Another said, “Very fun! The mechanic of switching between characters at first takes a while to get so towards the end of the demo it raises the difficulty a little bit when you need to think with three different characters.”

So if you are interested in puzzles, a fun and striking art style, and turn-based strategy, then you will want to check out Emptiness Sire ahead of its full launch.
