Cyberpunk 2077 meets Warzone in Steam freebie you can play now

Cyber warfare!

Cyber warfare has never looked so good as it does in this Steam freebie that’s like a cross between Cyberpunk 2077 and Call of Duty: Warzone.

The Call of Duty series is no stranger to venturing into the world of science fiction, as we’ve seen in such entries as the Black Ops series, as well as Advanced Warfare.

Now, Call of Duty fans are looking forward to even more sci-fi goodness with the next game in the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, set to be released at some point this year.

If you want a big dose of sci-fi goodness, it doesn't get much better than CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077.

Set in the seedy location of Night City, other than being a fantastic RPG title, Cyberpunk 2077 has some sublime FPS action that might not look out of place in the Black Ops series.

However, what if you were after a game that can be described as Cyberpunk 2077 meets Call of Duty: Warzone? Well, if that sounds like your kind of game, then you might want to put this free-to-play title on your radar.

The game in question is Off the Grid, developed and published by Gunzilla Games, a third-person shooter directed by Neill Blomkamp (Elysium, District 9, Gran Turismo).

“Welcome to Off The Grid, the next-gen free to play battle royale from visionary director Neill Blomkamp,” reads the description of the game on Steam. “Set in a near-future world where contestants are cybernetically augmented and dropped into televised bloodsport. Death is temporary, but fame is forever.”

It seems that some gamers on Steam are impressed with Off the Grid, but there should still be some caution with this free-to-play shooter.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but Off the Grid totally blew me away,” wrote paliy. “The world feels gritty and alive, the gameplay loop is super engaging, and the cyberpunk setting is just pure eye-candy.”

“Off the Grid is an interesting mix of battle royale and story-driven gameplay. The cyberpunk world looks great, and the idea of doing missions during a match is refreshing,” said V4NS.

While having a fair amount of positive Steam reviews, many have reacted negatively due to its implementation of its token economy, aka, NFTs.

Off the Grid is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
