It might not have been the ending everyone wanted for the Xbox showcase (we all wanted The Elder Scrolls VI) but Xbox still went out with a bang and showed off the next instalment in Call of Duty's long history, featuring a celebrity face, and some zombies.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is the next big game in the series, and it looks like there will be a very different tone this time around, seeing as it felt nothing like a Call of Duty game.
Starting off with actor Milo Ventimiglia stepping into a futuristic office, being talked to by an AI program, he then ended up in an Inception-style world, with broken scenery and run-down environments around him, unfolding through space.

It was an odd showing, as it not only looked more futuristic than the recent Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, but it felt oddly surreal and spooky, making me wonder what direction we're going in.
The Call of Duty franchise has tried stepping away from the tried and tested war scenarios of modern day and the past with mixed results, so I'd be surprised to see something so unique, but later in the trailer, we did see zombies, so fans will probably get what they want, and what they're used to anyway.
If this trailer is anything to go by, Black Ops 7 could be a refreshing change of pace for the series and give players who would usually skip the latest game, something to entice them.
Oddly, we didn't see any gameplay that would define this as a Call of Duty game - no fast-paced gun combat, and beyond some characters raising firearms, it didn't even feel like the same series.

Still, it's more Call of Duty and as it will likely redefine the genre, yet again, it's one to keep an eye on.
