Cooking up the perfect game is a feat nobody has ever managed yet, and while more developers fill their kitchens with elaborate recipes and fanciful spices, the best-tasting dishes are often the simplest.
That's where Salt & Soul: Pocket Chef's Adventure comes in.
In a time when we're gearing up for some of the biggest games ever made, rounding off a decade of development cycles, our brain power is going to be put to the test with an attack on the senses come November.
So, in the meantime, it's time to put ourselves in a cosy and tasty platformer that is seasoned with emotion and relaxing melodies.
Made by a team of three indie developers, the Salt & Soul puts you in the shoes of a porcelain salt shaker, shaped like a busty, moustached chef.

Operating in a kitchen that was once inhabited by a beloved Grandma, her spirit lives on through the smell of steaming pasta and crushed garlic, as your fragile character operates through a dangerous kitchen to recreate dishes that the kitchen longs for.
"Salt & Soul: Pocket Chef's Adventure is an atmospheric adventure where precision meets emotion," reads the Steam description.
"Designed as a focused, hand-crafted journey, your mission is simple yet dangerous: Navigate the towering shelves to find the ingredients, bring it back safely, manipulate giant kitchen appliances and prepare the dish exactly as she remembers it."

Much like some upcoming games like Deer & Boy, a preview for the game is currently available on Steam for free, and it's going down a treat with those who have given it a taste test.
"Played this last night as soon as I saw someone drop a trailer on it. This is a good sign that it's a good concept, and the idea of it being re-living the Ratatouille experience hits close to hearts," one player said in the Community hub.
Another added, "The game looks great and is very fun in theory. It's pretty choppy in cut scenes, but during the gameplay, it was fine. The potential here is amazing and I really hope the bugs will get sorted out so I can enjoy this game once released!"
Currently, there is no timeframe for when the full game will be released, but with some bugs blunting their knives, the demo is proving to be the perfect chopping board to get it prepared and into the Steam-er soon.
