What is the story of Borderlands 4?

Is Borderlands 4 good for newcomers?

Yes, Borderlands 4 is a good entry point for newcomers to the series. It’s considered to be somewhat of a soft reboot for the 2K-published property.

On the PlayStation Blog in April 2025, developer at Gearbox Software and Borderlands 4 creative director Graeme Timmins, said: “This all-new adventure is the perfect entry point for new players—and for existing players.”

Is Borderlands 5 happening?

At the moment, no. However, in a 2024 fiscal report, 2K's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, said that Gearbox Software currently has five sequels in development. It doesn't say Borderlands 5, but hopefully, that’s included as one of the five.
