While we wait for The Elder Scrolls VI, Steam users can now pick up a free demo for an upcoming FPS with similar vibes.
Bloodspill is a retro-inspired FPS that can be played in PvP, in which players take on the roles of different fantasy classes and fight it out in arena-style combat.
Classic multiplayer game modes such as deathmatch, capture the flag, and conquest are available to play, with players earning points for completing various objectives during each match.
Deathmatch is your classic PvP mode, where you rack up points for getting kills, with the player with the top score winning the round.

Meanwhile, Capture the Flag is as the name implies, you need to steal the flag from the enemy team and bring it to your own base to gain points and bring victory to your team.
Finally, Conquest is similar to the game mode from the Battlefield franchise, where you must capture and control a specific zone to earn points which will win you the round.
In terms of the overall vibe, the older crowd who were into Unreal Tournament or Quake many years back may find some fun in this, as the gameplay and visuals definitely suit those with a fondness for retro-style titles.
Developer thatFain has also made sure to clarify that AI wasn’t used in the making of the game, adding that “created by a human for other lovely humans to enjoy.”

The demo for Bloodspill includes four maps taken from the full game, as well as some customisation unlocks which you can obtain via in-game challenges.
thatFain has stressed that more maps will be included in the final game, including different content that will be available for the different play modes. More unlockable skins will also be present in the final game.
“Great old school arena shooter! Super satisfying gun or in this case crossbow feeling.
Perfect for a quick duel with friends,” reads one review for the demo on Steam, giving it a thumbs up indicating that they recommend it to others.
They added: “Also big fan of the oldschool graphics and general level design. Getting hunted in the foggy forest is a sure way of getting your blood pressure up.”
You can now play the Bloodspill demo on Steam by heading over to its store page and checking it out there. As for when the full game will be released, that remains “to be announced” and hasn’t received a concrete date yet.
Considering how stacked the latter half of the year seems to be, especially September, I imagine thatFain is waiting for the right moment to figure out when to release the game.
