The Elder Scrolls VI can wait because we’ve got this stunning new RPG arriving in 2026 (hopefully).

To be fair, we don’t have much of a choice when it comes to waiting for the arrival of The Elder Scrolls VI. After all, Bethesda has kept us waiting for over seven years (and counting) since it was first revealed at E3 2018.

Since that time, we’ve had no release date, not even an official launch window, let alone being treated to some gameplay. The best that we can probably hope for is that the highly anticipated next entry in The Elder Scrolls series is shadow-dropped in the next couple of years. If we’re lucky.

Where art thou, The Elder Scrolls VI?

Thankfully, at least, we have plenty of fantasy RPGs to keep us busy until The Elder Scrolls VI decides to grace us with its presence, such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, The Witcher 3, Wild Hunt, Elden Ring and much more. The list could go on.

We also have some fantastic RPGs to look forward to, namely, The Witcher 4, Nioh 3, Phantom Blade Zero and Fable, to name a few. However, there is another fantasy RPG that may have slipped your radar, and that’s Fatekeeper, developed by Paraglacial and published by THQ Nordic.

Fatekeeper looks stunning!

“Venture into a handcrafted world where ruins whisper of past cataclysms. Master the art of sword and sorcery and forge your path with relics, spells and choices that shape who you become in this first-person RPG,” reads the synopsis of Fatekeeper.

After watching its stunning gameplay trailer, it not only gives me vibes of The Elder Scrolls but also a little bit of God of War post-2018.

“I am so happy that developers started to experiment with first-person action RPGs again,” exclaimed grumpy1089 in the YouTube comments section of the Fatekeeper gameplay reveal trailer.

“Never thought that I would love a rat companion,” declared AbysmalEnd, referring to the rodent sidekick featured in the trailer.

“This is what Avowed was supposed to be when its original trailer dropped,” claimed VegettoQ61.

Fatekeeper does not have a release date at the time of writing, but it is currently intended to launch on PC via Steam sometime in 2026. That being said, it’s worth keeping in mind that delays are always possible.

Fatekeeper will launch first on PC with the intention of it arriving on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at a later date. Be sure to add Fatekeeper to your Steam wishlist to be notified when its release date drops.
