An upcoming action RPG has dropped a free taster on PC storefront Steam and praise is already pouring in with gamers believing the game to have huge potential.
By all accounts then, if Wyldheart isn’t already on your wishlist, it absolutely should be.
Developed by Wayfinder Studios, this upcoming open-world RPG is set within a “rustic fantasy world” that perfectly seems to blend The Elder Scrolls, Fable, and Baldur’s Gate franchises together.
Playable alone or with friends, Wyldheart places you into the shoes of a “humble peasant tossed into a dungeon”. Your task is to find one of the ancient Relics of Caerwyn to protect your town.

As is the case with all good RPGs, you can customise your playable character in terms of both their aesthetics and background, with Freefolk, Mosslings, Stonefolk, and Grimhorn options on offer.
There are over 19 character backgrounds to choose from - and combat is just as extensive; players can freely switch between melee and ranged weapons, both of the classic and magic variety.
The game boasts a sprawling skill tree within Wyldheart allowing you to create somewhat of a build, whether it’s adventuring, survival, weaponry, or dungeoneering that you want to master.

Wyldheart is the perfect length with a 10-hour story and 15-hours of side content

Wyldheart, again, is open-world and while there are plenty of quests you can pursue, it’s very much a game that simply rewards exploration.
In each town, you’ll find new quests, NPCs, materials, upgrades, and more. Certain quests will only trigger if you eavesdrop on specific NPCs, which should prove just how immersive Wyldheart’s world is.
Developers claim that Wyldheart is designed with “busy gamers” in mind, so the main story can actually be completed in just 10 hours.
For those who are free to commit though, there are 15 additional hours of optional content.
Wyldheart still lacks a launch date but it’ll eventually land on PC in early access. In the meantime, however, you can enjoy its newly released free demo.
The demo is described as a “standalone one-shot experience packed with several hours of content”.
In the demo, you’ll be able to create your character, explore the mushroom-themed dungeon Slurper’s Den, visit the village of Rivermere, explore three further dungeons in the Whisperwoods region, and much more.
YouTuber Mr Feudal is one such player who streamed his experience with the demo, diving back in to complete every single mission featured in the generous offering after it went down so well with his viewers.
Mr Feudal noted how the demo had him “genuinely surprised” with its sense of freedom and “the sheer size of the world”.

“I see a lot of potential here,” wrote one viewer in response to the playthrough.
Another added, “Really enjoying this game’s playthrough,” while someone said, “Very cool game. Can’t wait to play this with family.”
A game resonating with streamers and their communities is always a very, very positive sign.
Wyldheart is free to try now if you want to say you played this one before it became a major hit.
