When it comes to open worlds, Rockstar Games never misses, which is probably why Red Dead Redemption 2 is still argued to be the best in 2024, so far.

Despite being released over five years ago, Rockstar’s Western sequel Red Dead Redemption 2 remains largely uncontested as one of the greatest games of all time.

Take a look at these hilarious Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!

In fact, in a surprising turn of events the game is still winning awards. Just the other day, Steam gave it the 2023 Post-Launch Support Award, a weird move considering Rockstar Games has barely touched it aside from the odd patch or Red Dead Online event.

Back to the matter at hand though, Red Dead Redemption 2’s open world is still the gold standard when it comes to realistic graphics and meaningful interactions. It’s so good other games have drawn inspiration from it, like this game which looks like a crossover between Red Dead and Fallout.

Fans rightly sing the game’s praises on a regular basis, like Reddit user cosmic-heaven who recently made the not-so-bold claim that “5 years later it’s still the most photorealistic game in the market.”

The post was accompanied by a gorgeous in-game screenshot, like seriously, is it possible to take a bad photo in Red Dead Redemption 2? All of them look jaw-dropping in their own way.

People in the comments were in agreement, with one rightly pointing out that Rockstar Games has absolutely no competition when it comes to making open-world bangers, and that the “only people who top them are themselves” when they release another game.

Another added that while other phenomenal games had gorgeous worlds to explore like Ghosts Of Tsushima and The Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2 is different in the sense it “achieved a world that feels uniquely alive.”

Seems like the only game that has a chance of surpassing Red Dead Redemption 2 is GTA VI, another confirmed Rockstar banger.
